SOLD OUT – Small Earthbag Shed Build – Easter Long Weekend

April 19 - April 21

Booked Out – Build with Earthbags: Small Earthbag Shed Build

**** UPDATED **** Now fully booked. ******
Please message us if you are interested in a future workshop.
For those of you who missed out on the “bagging experience” of the Earthbag dome but still want to learn to build with earthbags, here is an opportunity. This is a minimum of a 2 day workshop.
* You will see what I mean below.

It is Friday and Saturday of the “long weekend” over Easter.

What will be happening.
– A small concrete pad will already be put in place ready for the build.
– a Small square shed will be built with earthbags.
– Given the small size of the shed, the idea is that with a minimum of 5 – 6 people involved this will be built within 2 days.
– People who wish to attend on the Sunday, Monday also are welcome to then do the cobb render and possibly the lime render (depending how well it dries – weather pending) so that they can see a small build from start to finish.

What do you learn?
– It is not just about laying bags.
– You learn what you need to do for a damp course for bags and how the consistency of the materials varies from the rest of the bags.
– You learn how to “interlink” the bags in a way that is structurally sound.
– You see the difference between the dome / circular build vs the straight walls and the pros / cons of each.
– You discover how to compact the bags and why people call earthbags “supported rammed earth” or “rammed earth in a bag”.
– You are shown a number of different ways of doing and laying the bags so that you can work within your physical abilities.

What does it cost?
– We ask you to bring and share a plate to contribute towards lunch each day
– There is no financial cost.
– The cost is an exchange of time and knowledge. We teach you, you help us.
– All who attend will also be able to take a tour of the multi-dome earthbag home, see an existing square earthbag bathroom and pizza oven on site.

– We are not an accommodation provider.
– We live in temporary accommodation on site and if you would like to camp on site, please contact us directly as we can only provide this option to a limited number of people.
– We are happy to recommend local accommodation providers in Kendenup and Mt Barker to those who enquire.
